# Check how an MCP server signs in

`POST /v1/mcp-servers/auth-discovery`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.patricia.app` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.patricia.app/v1/mcp-servers/auth-discovery`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Detects how the server at an address signs in, before the caller chooses how to connect. Records nothing and returns only the mode. A check the workspace's allowance refuses, or one that does not finish in time, answers unknown. An address that answers as no tool at all is refused with a sentence instead.

## Headers

- `X-Tenant-Id` string, nullable

## Request body

- McpAuthDiscoveryBody: The address a member typed on the connect form, checked before they choose how to sign in. No ``min_length``: ``validate_connect_url`` refuses a blank address with its own input sentence.
  - `base_url` string, required

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- McpAuthDiscoveryResponse: How the server at that address signs in. The address is not echoed back.
  - `mode` 'oauth' | 'open' | 'token_required' | 'unknown', required: The authentication mode found before an MCP setup intent advances.

## Other responses

- `422`: Validation Error
