# Watch applications, patents, or entities and get webhooks

`POST /v1/monitors`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.patentdata.ai`
- URL: `https://api.patentdata.ai/v1/monitors`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-API-KEY`
  - HTTP bearer

Creates a monitor. When our nightly ingest detects one of `events` on any target, we POST the event to `webhook_url` signed with HMAC-SHA256 of `secret` in `X-Signature`. Each delivery costs 1 request. The response carries `secret` exactly once (generated when you did not pass one); store it, and `coverage_since` — the monitor fires on what we detect from now on, and nothing before that time was ever seen.

  - `events` string[]: Event types to deliver; default all.
  - `webhook_url` string, uri, required: https:// endpoint we POST events to.
