# Request a short-lived claim code using the autonomous agent’s own key

`POST /api/auth/agent/claim/start`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://editor.pascal.app`
- URL: `https://editor.pascal.app/api/auth/agent/claim/start`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

The person enters the code in Settings while signed in as themselves. Claiming links identities; it does not transfer project ownership or grant access to private projects.

## Response `200`

Claim code; keep it private and use it before expiry

- object
  - `claimCode` string, required: Grouped code formatted XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.
  - `claimUrl` string, uri, required: Settings claim page with the code already prefilled as ?code=. Hand this to the person; they do not need to retype the code.
  - `expiresAt` string, date-time, required

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key/session
- `403`: Credential is not an agent credential
- `409`: Agent is already claimed
