# Cancel the stake (release the hold)

`DELETE /agents/me/stake`

Flag-gated (`specified_gated_off`) and not active at M2.5 launch — year-1,
pending counsel signoff; the live onboarding path is chain-resolve-to-principal.

## Response `200`

`status:"cancelled"` (hold released, `trust_anchor='none'`).

## Other responses

- `403`: The stake tier is not enabled on this deployment (`feature_disabled`, ALIP-0041).
- `409`: `not_staked` (no active stake to release) or `stake_outstanding_open` (settle open claims / disputes before releasing the stake).
