# Point-in-time ticker snapshot as of a given date (DF-14)

Point-in-time read: what did this ticker look like on (or just before) a date.

DF-14 — the user-facing surface on the snapshot moat
(docs/plans/MOAT_STRATEGY_2026_05_06.md §8.1). Resolves to the NEAREST
`ticker_snapshots` row whose `snapshot_date <= date`, so weekend /
holiday / gap days return the most-recent prior captured state (the
correct as-of semantic).

PUBLIC (no auth / no tier) — matches the sibling /api/data ticker
route and SF-MONETIZATION-V3 (public market data is never paywalled).

- `symbol` string, required: Ticker symbol (required)
- `date` string, required: As-of date, YYYY-MM-DD (required)

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- TickerAsOfResponse: Point-in-time ticker snapshot returned by GET /api/ticker/as-of. DF-14 (the user-facing surface on the snapshot moat, MOAT_STRATEGY_2026_05_06 §8.1). Returns the captured state of a ticker as of the requested calendar date, resolving to the nearest snapshot on-or-before that date. REQUIRED (no Optional) — the three keys the frontend dereferences unconditionally to gate render: `ticker`, `requested_date`, `found`. The rest are Optional because they are absent on the not-found path (no snapshot on/before the requested date) and on the bad-input path. `snapshot_date` is the ACTUAL nearest snapshot date (may be earlier than `requested_date`). `data` is the raw captured JSONB snapshot (heterogeneous point-in-time state — typed loose so it can't 500). `note` is a human-readable explanation of the resolution.
