# Lists available dictionaries

`GET /languages`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://od-api-demo.oxforddictionaries.com:443/api/v1`
- URL: `https://od-api-demo.oxforddictionaries.com:443/api/v1/languages`
- Auth: none declared. Required headers: `app_id`, `app_key`

Returns a list of monolingual and bilingual language datasets available in the API

## Query parameters

- `sourceLanguage` 'es' | 'en' | 'lv' | 'nso' | 'zu' | 'ms' | 'id' | 'tn' | 'ur' | 'hi' | 'sw' | 'ro' | 'de' | 'pt' | 'ta' | 'gu'
- `targetLanguage` 'es' | 'en' | 'lv' | 'nso' | 'zu' | 'ms' | 'id' | 'tn' | 'ur' | 'hi' | 'sw' | 'ro'

Successful response.

- Languages: Schema for the languages endpoint.
  - `metadata` object: Additional Information provided by OUP
  - `results` object[]: A list of languages available.
    - `region` string: Name of region.
    - `source` string: Name of source dictionary.
    - `sourceLanguage` object: Source language of the results
      - `id` string: IANA language code
      - `language` string: Language label.
    - `targetLanguage` object: Translation language of the results
      - `id` string: IANA language code
      - `language` string: Language label.
    - `type` 'monolingual' | 'bilingual': whether monolingual or bilingual.

## Other responses

- `404`: Unknown sourceLanguage and/or targetLanguage.
- `500`: Internal Error. An error occurred while processing the data.
