# Stat file

`GET /v2/file-systems/{file_system_key}/files/stat`

## Request

Retrieves the metadata of one file or folder without transferring its content.

## Path parameters

- `file_system_key` string, required

## Query parameters

## Response `200`

Successfully retrieved the file metadata.

  - `type` 'file' | 'dir' | 'symlink' | 'other', required
  - `size_bytes` string, required
  - `mode` string, required: Permission bits in octal, for example 0644
  - `modified` string, required

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is invalid. See https://docs.orq.ai/reference/errors for the error codes.
- `404`: File system or path not found.
