# Invite a person to a workspace by email

`POST /api/workspaces/{id}/invite`

The workspace owner only. permission: viewer (chats with the computers’ agents and watches their screens) or admin (full access). computer_id, optional, a computer of this workspace: accepting opens it. The person is emailed a link, which the answer also carries as accept_url (send it yourself when email_sent is false). The owner’s plan decides who may be added; a pending invite holds its seat until it expires.

## Response `200`

Invited: email, permission, accept_url, email_sent.

## Other responses

- `400`: A bad email or permission, the caller’s own address, someone already a member, or INVALID_COMPUTER (computer_id is not a computer of this workspace).
- `403`: OWNER_ONLY (only the owner invites), or the plan has no room: UPGRADE_REQUIRED (the plan includes no other people) or SEAT_LIMIT (limit, used). Both carry upgradeTier and, for the owner, upgrade_url (the plan page with that plan chosen) and next, one sentence on what to do. An unclaimed agent account cannot invite.
- `429`: Over one of the account's rate limits (rate_limited): `limit` names it, `retry_after` and Retry-After say how many seconds to wait. Limits are per account (the workspace owner when the request acts on a computer or a workspace) and set by its plan (x-rate-limits).
- `503`: PLAN_UNAVAILABLE: the plan could not be read just now. Nothing was sent; try again.
