# Restart a computer

`POST /api/computers/{id}/restart`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://www.orgo.ai`
- URL: `https://www.orgo.ai/api/computers/{id}/restart`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Reboots the computer in place; the disk is kept. A GPU computer is restarted by clearing its disk, which needs an explicit {"clear_disk": true} (409 RESTART_CLEARS_DISK without it): a copy of /root is saved first, and the answer is 202 with an operation to poll.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `clear_disk` boolean: GPU computers only: clear the disk and restart (a copy of /root is saved first).

## Response `200`

Restarted: { success: true }.

## Other responses

- `202`: A Clear and restart under way: success, status restarting, operation_id, operation and poll_url (Location; Retry-After 5).
- `403`: View only access (workspace_read_only).
- `409`: RESTART_CLEARS_DISK (a GPU computer, sent without clear_disk), insufficient_space, or another operation holds the computer.
- `429`: Over one of the account's rate limits (rate_limited): `limit` names it, `retry_after` and Retry-After say how many seconds to wait. Limits are per account (the workspace owner when the request acts on a computer or a workspace) and set by its plan (x-rate-limits).
