# Deactivate a registered end user

`DELETE /end-users/{user}`

Soft-deactivate a registration while retaining its tracking ID. Repeat deactivation succeeds. This does not block inference; reactivate through PATCH. [Management key](/docs/guides/overview/auth/management-api-keys) required.

## Path parameters

- `user` string, required — Immutable case-sensitive tracking string supplied as user on inference requests. URL-encode it in resource paths.

## Response `204`

Registration is inactive.

## Other responses

- `400` — Bad Request - Invalid request parameters or malformed input
- `401` — Unauthorized - Authentication required or invalid credentials
- `404` — Not Found - Resource does not exist
- `500` — Internal Server Error - Unexpected server error
