# Get instance update status

`GET /admin/update-status`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.openpo.st/api/v1`
- URL: `https://app.openpo.st/api/v1/admin/update-status`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in cookie `openpost_session`

Returns a cached, read-only stable release comparison. This endpoint never installs updates.

  - `disabled_reason` 'managed_edition' | 'configuration': Reason the configured value is not effective
  - `effective_enabled` boolean, required: Whether release checks run in this process
  - `latest_version` string: Latest stable OpenPost release tag
  - `published_at` string: Latest release publication time
  - `release_url` string: Validated GitHub release page
  - `requires_restart` boolean, required: Whether the configured value differs from the running process
  - `running_build` string, required: Source revision embedded in or detected from the running server
  - `running_version` string, required: Version embedded in the running server
  - `state` 'current' | 'update_available' | 'stale' | 'unavailable' | 'disabled' | 'development', required: Release comparison state
