# Delete thread

`DELETE /v1/threads/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.openmail.sh`
- URL: `https://api.openmail.sh/v1/threads/{id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Move a thread and all of its messages to Trash. The API stops returning it. In the console it sits under Trash, where it can be restored or deleted for good; unrestored threads are deleted automatically after 30 days.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Response `204`

Thread deleted

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing, invalid, or expired API key
- `403`: API key is inbox-scoped, or is not scoped to this thread's inbox. Deleting mail needs an account-wide or pod-scoped key.
- `404`: Thread not found
