# Retrieve a single transcription

`GET /transcriptions/show.json`

Returns the full transcript of a single page along with its source citation. Mirrors `/transcripties/toon/<id>`. AI-generated summaries are deliberately not returned by this endpoint.

Successful transcription response

- TranscriptionResponse: Response returned by `/transcriptions/show.json`.
  - `id` string, required: Page identifier (matches the request `id`).
  - `uri` string, uri, required
  - `source_archive` TranscriptionSourceArchive, required: Source archive holding the transcribed page.
    - `isil` string, required: International Standard Identifier for Libraries (ISIL).
    - `archive_code` string, nullable: openarch archive code (matches the codes used elsewhere in this API).
    - `name` string, nullable: Localised name of the source archive.
  - `archive_number` TranscriptionArchiveNumber: Archive number (archieftoegang) information for a transcription.
    - `nr` string, required: Archive number as used by the source institution.
    - `title` string: Title of the archive.
    - `url` string, uri: External URL describing the archive on the source institution's website.
  - `inventory_number` TranscriptionInventoryNumber: Inventory number information for a transcription.

  - `page` string: Page number with leading zeros stripped.
  - `source_url` string, uri: Direct link to the scan or transcription on the source archive's website.
  - `thumb_url` string, uri: Thumbnail image URL, when available.
  - `project` string: Source project that produced the transcription, e.g. `transkribus`, `globalise`, `mibudera`.
  - `transcript` string, required: Plain-text transcript of the page.

## Other responses

- `400`: Missing or invalid id
- `404`: No transcription with that id was found.
- `429`: Too Many Requests — rate limit of 4 requests per second per IP exceeded.
