# Dutch census data for a place and year

## Request

Retrieves census data for a Dutch place or municipality for the census year nearest to the specified year. Available census years: 1795, 1830, 1840, 1849, 1859, 1869, 1879, 1889, 1899. Data sources: Volkstellingen.nl (DANS) and Gemeentegeschiedenis.nl. Either `place` or `gg_uri` must be provided.

## Response `200`

Census data for up to 10 places plus optional provincial totals. Column fieldnames are prefixed with their original column number to preserve the original ordering.

- CensusResponse: Census data for matched places plus optional provincial totals.
  - `census` object[]: Up to 10 census records for matching places.
    - `population` integer: Total population count.
    - `gg_uri` string, uri: Gemeentegeschiedenis URI for the municipality.
    - `name` string: Place name.
    - `province` string: Province name as recorded in the census.
    - `year` integer: Actual census year used.
    - `table` object: Key-value pairs of census data columns. Column keys are prefixed with their original column number (e.g. "02 huizen").
  - `totals` object: Aggregated population totals per province. Only present when `richness=3`.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid or missing parameters
- `429`: Too Many Requests — rate limit of 4 requests per second per IP exceeded.
