# Remove a reward from a referral

`DELETE /leads/{lead_identifier}/rewards/{id}`

## Request

- Auth: API key in header `x-lasso-access-token`

Removes a reward and voids any of its invoices that are still draft or payment-ready. Refused
with `invoice_locked` when one of its invoices is already finalized or paid, since that money
is committed. Check `removable` on the list endpoint first.

Address the reward by its Lasso `id` (default) or by the `external_identifier` you created
it with, using `?reward_by=external_identifier`. Requires `payment_write` permission.

    - `source` 'reward_plan' | 'ad_hoc': Whether the reward came from the partner's reward plan or was attached to this referral alone.

    - `payee` object: Who the reward pays. A reward pays either the partner organization or one partner contact, never both.

## Other responses

- `400`: `reward_by` is not `id` or `external_identifier`
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `403`: API key lacks required permission
- `404`: Resource not found
- `422`: Removal refused because an invoice is already finalized or paid
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded. Wait the number of seconds in `Retry-After`, then retry.
