# Delete an external storage configuration

`DELETE /organization/external_storage/{external_storage_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.openai.com/v1`

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Disconnect a customer-managed external storage configuration. Removing the project's last configuration restores organization-default retention if customer-managed retention was active. Repeating a deletion also completes any interrupted retention update. Cloud storage is unchanged.

## Other responses

- `400`: The organization is not enabled for external storage.
- `403`: The caller does not have permission to perform this operation.
- `404`: The organization or external storage was not found.
