# Delete a ChatKit thread

`DELETE /chatkit/threads/{thread_id}`

Delete a ChatKit thread along with its items and stored attachments.

## Path parameters

- `thread_id` string, required

## Response `200`

Success

- DeletedThreadResource: Confirmation payload returned after deleting a thread.
  - `id` string, required: Identifier of the deleted thread.
  - `object` 'chatkit.thread.deleted', required: Type discriminator that is always `chatkit.thread.deleted`.
  - `deleted` boolean, required: Indicates that the thread has been deleted.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is invalid or the required ChatKit beta header is missing or invalid.
- `404`: The thread was not found or is not accessible.
- `429`: The request rate limit has been exceeded.
