# Delete chat completion

`DELETE /chat/completions/{completion_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.openai.com/v1`
- URL: `https://api.openai.com/v1/chat/completions/{completion_id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Delete a stored chat completion. Only Chat Completions that have been
created with the `store` parameter set to `true` can be deleted.

## Path parameters

- `completion_id` string, required

## Response `200`

The chat completion was deleted successfully.

- ChatCompletionDeleted
  - `object` 'chat.completion.deleted', required: The type of object being deleted.
  - `id` string, required: The ID of the chat completion that was deleted.
  - `deleted` boolean, required: Whether the chat completion was deleted.

## Other responses

- `404`: No stored chat completion was found with the specified ID.
- `429`: The request was rejected because a rate limit was exceeded.
- `500`: An internal error prevented the request from being completed.
