# Create product category

`POST /product-categories`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.omnisend.com/api`
- URL: `https://api.omnisend.com/api/product-categories`
- Auth: one of:
  - OAuth 2
    - Client credentials
    - Token URL: `https://app.omnisend.com/oauth2/token` scopes: `products.write`
  - API key in header `Authorization`

Creates a new product category

**Scopes:**
`products.write`

**Rate Limiting:**
This endpoint is rate limited to 400 requests per minute.

## Headers

- `Omnisend-Version` string, required

## Request body

- CreateCategoryRequest: Payload for creating a product category
  - `categoryID` string, required: Product category unique identifier. Range: 1-100 characters
  - `title` string, required: Product category name. Max 255 characters

## Response `201`

Product category created successfully with the given ID

- CreateCategoryResponse: Response returned after successfully creating a product category
  - `categoryID` string: Product category unique identifier

## Other responses

- `400`: Request contains invalid or missing fields
- `401`: Authentication is missing or invalid
- `403`: Insufficient permissions for this operation
- `409`: Category already exists
- `410`: API version has been retired
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
- `500`: Unexpected error occurred
