# Send campaign test email

`POST /campaigns/{id}/test-email`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.omnisend.com/api`
- URL: `https://api.omnisend.com/api/campaigns/{id}/test-email`
- Auth: one of:
  - OAuth 2
    - Client credentials
    - Token URL: `https://app.omnisend.com/oauth2/token` scopes: `campaigns.write`
  - API key in header `Authorization`

Render the campaign draft and email it to up to 5 recipients so the merchant (or their AI tool) can preview it without leaving the API. The test uses the campaign's saved subject, sender, and content; only email campaigns are supported.

`campaigns.write`

**Rate Limiting:**
This endpoint is rate limited to 400 requests per minute.

## Request body

- SendTestEmailRequest: Request payload for sending a campaign test email.
  - `recipients` string[], required: Email addresses that receive the test send. Between 1 and 5 addresses.

## Response `204`

Test email queued for delivery

## Other responses

- `400`: Request contains invalid or missing fields
- `401`: Authentication is missing or invalid
- `402`: Payment is required to send this campaign
- `403`: Insufficient permissions for this operation
- `404`: Campaign not found
- `409`: Campaign content is incomplete (e.g. no template selected), email sending is disabled, the sender domain is unverified, or every recipient is suppressed
- `410`: API version has been retired
- `422`: Campaign type is not supported (only email campaigns)
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
- `500`: Unexpected error occurred
