# Update UTM tags for an automation block

`PUT /automations/{id}/blocks/{blockID}/utm`

## Request

  - OAuth 2
    - Client credentials
    - Token URL: `https://app.omnisend.com/oauth2/token` scopes: `automations.write`

Set UTM tracking tags for a specific send-action block.
All three tag fields are replaced atomically. Send an empty string
to clear a field — the next read will return its default value.

**Scopes:**
`automations.write`

**Rate Limiting:**
This endpoint is rate limited to 400 requests per minute.

## Request body

- UpdateUTMRequest: Update UTM tracking tags for an automation block. All three tag fields (source, medium, campaign) must be provided. Send an empty string for any field to clear it — the next read will return the default value for that field.
  - `tags` UTMTagsInput, required: UTM tracking tag values for an update request. All three fields must be provided — send an empty string to clear a field (which resets it to its default value on the next read).
    - `campaign` string, required: UTM campaign parameter
    - `medium` string, required: UTM medium parameter
    - `source` string, required: UTM source parameter

## Response `200`

Updated UTM tags (with defaults applied)

- UTMResponse: UTM tracking tags for a single automation block.
  - `tags` UTMTags: UTM tracking tag values.
    - `campaign` string: UTM campaign parameter
    - `medium` string: UTM medium parameter
    - `source` string: UTM source parameter

## Other responses

- `400`: Request contains invalid or missing fields
- `401`: Authentication is missing or invalid
- `403`: Insufficient permissions for this operation
- `404`: Automation or block not found
- `410`: API version has been retired
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
- `500`: Unexpected error occurred
