# Send test email

`POST /automations/{id}/blocks/{blockID}/test-email`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.omnisend.com/api`

- Auth: one of:
  - OAuth 2
    - Client credentials
    - Token URL: `https://app.omnisend.com/oauth2/token` scopes: `automations.write`
  - API key in header `Authorization`

Send the saved email content of a specific email block as a test
email to up to 5 recipients. The email is rendered and delivered
asynchronously.

**Scopes:**
`automations.write`

**Rate Limiting:**
This endpoint is rate limited to 400 requests per minute.

- `blockID` string, required

## Headers

- `Omnisend-Version` string, required

## Request body

- SendTestEmailRequest: Send a test email for an automation email block to the given recipients. The saved email content is rendered and delivered asynchronously.
  - `recipients` string[], required: Email addresses to deliver the test email to (1 to 5 recipients).

## Response `204`

Test email accepted for delivery

## Other responses

- `400`: Request contains invalid or missing fields
- `401`: Authentication is missing or invalid
- `402`: Payment is required to send emails
- `403`: Insufficient permissions for this operation
- `404`: Automation or block not found
- `409`: Brand state or suppressed recipients prevent sending the test email
- `410`: API version has been retired
- `422`: Block does not support test emails or has no saved content
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
- `500`: Unexpected error occurred
