# Retrieve switchable values for a user or group

`GET /v1/user-attributes/{userAttributeId}/selectable-values`

  **Organization Admin** permissions are required to use this endpoint.

Retrieve the values a single user or group can switch a [user attribute](/administration/users/attributes/user-selected) to.

This endpoint returns only the subject's own provisioning. It does not include values a user inherits from their groups, and it does not reflect the ability of **Organization Admin** users to switch any attribute to any value.

- `groupId` string

## Response `200`

The subject's provisioned values for this attribute.

**Note**: A user or group with no provisioned values returns `200` with `values: []` and `allow_any_value: false`.

- SelectableValuesResponse
  - `user_attribute_id` string, required: Unique identifier for custom attributes. Empty string for system-defined attributes.
  - `values` string[], required: Values this user or group can switch the attribute to. Numbers are returned as strings to preserve precision beyond `2^53`.
  - `allow_any_value` boolean, required: Whether the user or group can switch to a value that is not listed. When `true`, `selectable_values` are suggestions.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request. Both or neither of `userId` and `groupId` were provided, or `userId` is not a valid UUID.
- `401`: Authentication required
- `403`: Forbidden. Requires Organization Admin permissions.
- `404`: Not Found. The user attribute definition, user, or group does not exist in the caller's organization.
- `405`: Method Not Allowed - Invalid HTTP method for this endpoint
- `429`: Too Many Requests - Rate limit exceeded (60 requests/minute)
- `500`: Internal Server Error
