# Publish an image

`POST /images/{image_id}/publish`

## Request

- Base URL: `/v1` (relative, and the document’s source URL is not known)
- URL: `/v1/images/{image_id}/publish`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-Florence-Token`
  - API key in header `Authorization`

Requests an image publishing via the static file publisher, which puts the S3 objects for this image to the static bucket. This call sets the image state to 'publishing'.

## Path parameters

- `image_id` string, required

## Response `204`

The image was successfully published and a message queued to Static file publisher.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request, image id was incorrect
- `401`: User or service is not authenticated
- `403`: Unauthorised to publish image or it is in wrong state to be published
- `404`: Requested item cannot be found
- `500`: Failed to process the request due to an internal error
