# Updates a migration state

`PUT /migration-jobs/{job_number}/state`

## Request

- Base URL: `/v1` (relative, and the document’s source URL is not known)
- URL: `/v1/migration-jobs/{job_number}/state`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Updates the state of a specific migration job using the unique job number

## Path parameters

- `job_number` integer, required

## Request body

  - `state` 'approved' | 'rejected'

## Response `204`

Successful state change

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid state supplied
- `401`: Request is not authenticated
- `403`: Request is not authorised
- `404`: Migration job not found
- `409`: State change is not allowed
- `500`: Generic error response
