# Cancel a task

`POST /tasks/v1/research/{id}/cancel`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.oassis.dev`
- URL: `https://api.oassis.dev/tasks/v1/research/{id}/cancel`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `Task-Token`

Stops new operations and returns the unused budget. An operation already running cannot always be stopped remotely: it is charged as it completes. Cancelling a finished task changes nothing.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Response `200`

The task had already finished: nothing changed. The body is the task.

## Other responses

- `202`: Cancellation requested. The body is the task as it stands.
- `401`: Missing or invalid owner API key or task-scoped access token.
- `404`: Task not found or task token does not match.
