# Create Voting Policy

`POST /voting-policies`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://nzxplorer.co.nz/api/v1`
- URL: `https://nzxplorer.co.nz/api/v1/voting-policies`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`
  - API key in query parameter `api_key`

Create a new custom voting policy with threshold overrides. The policy JSONB must include at minimum board_independence_min (number). Optionally set base_preset to inherit defaults from a built-in preset (nzxplorer, conservative, progressive, permissive, iss_nz, nz_super, russell_nz, vanguard_aunz). Enterprise or Institutional tier required.

## Request body

- object
  - `name` string, required: Policy name
  - `description` string: Policy description
  - `base_preset` string: Base preset ID to inherit defaults from
  - `policy` string, required: Policy threshold overrides (must include board_independence_min)
  - `is_default` 'true' | 'false': Set as default policy for this user
