# Create a collection

`POST /api/v1/collections`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://numonic.ai`
- URL: `https://numonic.ai/api/v1/collections`
- Auth: API key in header `x-api-key`

Create a new collection. Collections support nested paths up to 5 levels deep (e.g., Projects/Nike/Campaign1) with ordered asset membership.

## Headers

- `X-Tenant-ID` string, uuid, required: Target tenant UUID. Required when API key has access to multiple tenants.

## Request body

- CreateCollectionRequest: Request body for creating a new collection
  - `name` string, required
  - `parentPath` string, nullable
  - `displayName` string
  - `description` string
  - `icon` string
  - `color` string

## Response `201`

Collection created successfully

- SuccessMessage
  - `message` string, required: Human-readable success message

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation failed
- `401`: Authentication required
