# Deactivate an alias

`POST /workflows/definitions/{id}/aliases/{alias}/deactivate`

## Request

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Marks the alias inactive and tears down its running triggers (best effort).

## Response `200`

The deactivation outcome.

    - `active` boolean, required: Whether the alias's triggers are activated.
    - `updatedAt` string, date-time, required
    - `updatedBy` string
    - `metadata` object
    - `triggerStates` object: Map of trigger id to its activation state.
  - `deactivatedTriggers` string[]
  - `deactivateError` string: Present when trigger teardown failed.

## Other responses

- `4XX`: Client error. The body says what went wrong: an error `type`, a human-readable `detail`, and, on validation failures, one entry per offending field.
- `5XX`: Unexpected server error.
