# Update a topic

`PATCH /v2/topics/{topicKey}`

## Request

- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Update a topic name or data by its unique key identifier **topicKey**

## Path parameters

- `topicKey` string, required

## Request body

- UpdateTopicRequestDto
  - `name` string: The display name for the topic
  - `data` object, nullable: Additional custom data associated with the topic. Flat key-value pairs of scalars (string, number, boolean, string[]). Maximum size: 64KB. Pass null to clear.

    - `name` string: The name of the topic
    - `data` object: Additional custom data associated with the topic

- `429`: The client has sent too many requests in a given amount of time.

- `503`: The server is currently unable to handle the request due to a temporary overload or scheduled maintenance, which will likely be alleviated after some delay.
