# Update comment

`PATCH /api/v3/meta/bases/{baseId}/comments/{commentId}`

## Request

Update the text of an existing comment. Only the comment creator can update.

**Note**: Comment APIs are available on cloud-hosted **Business** plans and above, and on licensed self-hosted deployments (**Business** plan and above).

## Path parameters

- `baseId` string, required
- `commentId` string, required

## Request body

- CommentUpdateRequest: Request body for updating a comment.
  - `comment` string, required: Updated comment text.

## Response `200`

Comment updated successfully.

- Comment: A comment on a record.
  - `id` string: Unique comment ID.
  - `record_id` string: Record ID this comment belongs to.
  - `table_id` string: Table ID this comment belongs to.
  - `comment` string: Comment text (supports markdown).
  - `created_by` string: User ID of the comment creator.
  - `resolved_by` string, nullable: User ID who resolved this comment (null if not resolved).
  - `parent_comment_id` string, nullable: Parent comment ID for threaded comments.
  - `created_at` string, date-time: Creation timestamp.
  - `updated_at` string, date-time: Last update timestamp.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request.
- `401`: No credential was supplied, it was not valid, or this operation does not accept the kind of credential that was sent.
- `403`: Authenticated, but not allowed: the role is too low, the token scope does not cover the operation, or the plan does not include the feature or allows no more of this resource.
- `404`: The resource does not exist. Hooks and documents answer 404; most other resources answer 422 instead.
- `500`: Unexpected server error. The body carries `message` only — no `error` code.
