# /shiftTypes

`POST /shiftTypes`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.securevan.com/v4`
- URL: `https://api.securevan.com/v4/shiftTypes`
- Auth: HTTP basic

Accepts a standard [Shift Type](ref:shift-types#common-models-32) object with no read-only values specified.

*Response*

If successful, the endpoint responds with HTTP Status Code `201 Created` and a Shift Type object with the integer ID of the created Shift Type in the response body. It also sets the **Location** header to the [location](ref:shifttypesshifttypeid) of the Shift Type.

## Request body

  - `name` string: Required; name for the Shift Type
  - `defaultStartTime` string, date: Required; default start time for the Shift Type
  - `defaultEndTime` string, date: Required; default end time for the Shift Type

## Response `201`
