# Remove a firm member (soft-remove, owner-only) · 0 credits

`DELETE /api/v1/firm/members/{memberId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://legal.nexusquantum.legal`
- URL: `https://legal.nexusquantum.legal/api/v1/firm/members/{memberId}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Soft-remove (`active:false`): removes the member and frees the seat. `memberId` goes in the URL. An id from another firm or a nonexistent one → 404 (owner-only preserved; NOT 204). `requireAAL2` is a no-op for API-key auth. No charge. Scope: mcp | *.

## Path parameters

- `memberId` string, uuid, required

## Response `204`

Member removed (no body).

## Other responses

- `400`: INVALID_ID (not a UUID)
- `404`: Member not found (id from another firm or nonexistent).
