# Configure spend limits, alerts, and manual pause state.

- UpdateBudgetRequest
  - `key_limit_usd` number, nullable
  - `daily_limit_usd` number, nullable
  - `pause_on_exceed` boolean: Retained for compatibility; exceeding a budget never pauses the key automatically.
  - `alert_thresholds` integer[]
  - `paused` boolean

## Response `200`

Updated budget policy.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request.
- `401`: API key is missing or invalid.
- `409`: HTTP 409. PRICE_MISMATCH means the price changed since it was read; no order was placed, so re-read prices and retry. Also used for PRODUCT_OUT_OF_STOCK and IDEMPOTENCY_CONFLICT. See https://docs.nexalayer.net/en/errors.
- `429`: Request or trial limit exceeded.
