# List user variables

`GET /v1/users/{user-id}/variables`

## Request

- Base URL: `http://127.0.0.1:8000`
- URL: `http://127.0.0.1:8000/v1/users/{user-id}/variables`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Return all variables (per-user preferences and other UI state) of the user as a
flat JSON object mapping variable name to value. Values are opaque strings: scalars
are stored as plain text, structured values as serialized JSON, and the reader
decides how to interpret them. A user may read their own variables; reading another
user's variables requires MANAGE_USERS access right.

- `400`: Invalid user ID
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Access denied (not self and no MANAGE_USERS right)
- `500`: Database failure
