# Process Payment Refund

`POST /v2/payments/refund/payments_refund`

## Request

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Use this API to initiate a refund for a completed transaction through supported payment gateways such as RazorPay.

## Parameters

- `#/paths/~1v2~1payments~1configuration/post/parameters/0` (unresolved $ref)

## Request body

- RefundRequest: Defines the payload required to initiate a refund.
  - `reference_id` string, required: Unique identifier for the refund request.
  - `speed` 'normal' | 'instant', required: Determines refund processing speed.
  - `payment_config_id` string, required: Unique ID of the payment configuration used for the refund.
  - `amount` object, required: Defines refund amount details including offset.
    - `currency` string, required: Currency used for the refund (ISO 4217).
    - `value` integer, required: Numeric value of the refund.
    - `offset` integer, required: Value of any applied offset.

## Response `200`

Refund initiated successfully

- RefundResponse: Contains the refund initiation response details.
  - `status` string, required: Status of the API call.
  - `message` string, required: Description of the response result.
  - `data` object, required: Provides information about the processed refund.
    - `refund_id` string, required: Unique ID of the refund transaction.
    - `reference_id` string, required: Payment reference ID linked to the refund.
    - `amount_refunded` Amount, required (unresolved $ref)
    - `speed` 'normal' | 'instant', required: Refund processing speed used.
    - `timestamp` string, date-time, required: Date and time when the refund was processed.

## Other responses

- `400` (unresolved $ref)
- `404`: Refund request not found or encountered a processing error.
- `4XX` (unresolved $ref)
