# Backend version info

`GET /api/version`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.ncspeech.org` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.ncspeech.org/api/version`
- Auth: none declared

Returns version metadata injected at image build time via Docker build args.

- **version**: set by CI as `CI_COMMIT_TAG` on tagged pipelines (e.g. `v1.4.2`),
  or `<branch>-<short_sha>` on branch pipelines (e.g. `main-abcdef1`),
  or `dev` for local runs without CI.
- **commit**: full git SHA (`CI_COMMIT_SHA`); empty string if not set.
- **build_date**: ISO-8601 UTC timestamp (`CI_PIPELINE_CREATED_AT`); empty string if not set.
