# Asynchronously Unregister a Volume from Stack

`POST /uaas/stacks/{stack_id}/volumes/{volume_id}:unregister`

Start an asynchronous unregistration for a UaaS-attached volume.

Creates an ``uaas_volume_unregister`` task, dispatches the corresponding
edge command, and returns a customer-safe ``TaskSummaryDto`` for polling.
The NOC NDS configuration is only updated once the edge confirms via
eventhub. Legacy synchronous callers continue to work through the
``DELETE`` route above.

## Response `202`

Volume unregistration accepted; command dispatched to edge

- TaskSummaryDto: Customer-facing task view: the rolled-up task `state` plus an optional, curated task-level `reason`. Deliberately carries no `steps`. Internal step `reason`s — unstructured, engineering-facing strings (often raw exception detail) — stay in the backend and never ride on this DTO. The task-level `reason` is a separate, customer-safe contract persisted when the task becomes failed. It is never derived from internal step reasons while serving a customer request.
