# Run a detection scan on an image

`POST /v1/scans`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://nanostudiopro.com/api`

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Runs the deep detection scan on a generation or asset you own and returns when it finishes (typically 5-20s). **Free** — no credit deduction. The result feeds `GET /v1/detections/{target_id}` and full-text search.

Usually unnecessary: every generation and import is scanned automatically on creation. Re-scanning replaces the stored detections for the target.

## Request body

- object
  - `target_id` string, required: Generation or asset ID.
  - `target_type` 'generation' | 'asset'

## Response `200`

Scan completed.

## Other responses

- `400`: `target_id` is required
- `401`: Missing or invalid token
- `404`: Target not found
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
