# Update a memory

`PATCH /memories/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.mymemory.dev/v1`
- URL: `https://api.mymemory.dev/v1/memories/{id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Change tags, metadata or (for notes) content. Tags and metadata change without re-processing; new note content is re-processed and re-indexed. Send at least one field.

  - `reindex` boolean: True when the content changed and is being re-indexed.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `403`: Not allowed: someone else's memory or space, or a plan limit reached (`Memory limit reached`, `Space limit reached`)
- `404`: Not found, or it isn't yours
- `429`: Too many requests. For a rate limit (`error`: `rate_limited`), wait the seconds in the `Retry-After` header; for an AI budget error, until the budget renews.
