# Delete a draft receivable

`DELETE /receivables/{receivable_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.sandbox.monite.com/v1`
- URL: `https://api.sandbox.monite.com/v1/receivables/{receivable_id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

You can delete only draft invoices, quotes, and credit notes. Once issued, documents cannot be deleted.

To void an issued invoice, you can instead [cancel it](https://docs.monite.com/api/receivables/post-receivables-id-cancel) or mark an overdue invoice as [uncollectible](https://docs.monite.com/api/receivables/post-receivables-id-mark-as-uncollectible).

To void an issued quote, you can [mark it as declined](https://docs.monite.com/api/receivables/post-receivables-id-decline).

- `400`: Bad Request
- `401`: The `Authorization` header is missing or contains an invalid or expired access token. See [Authentication](https://docs.monite.com/api/concepts/authentication) to learn how to authenticate API calls.
- `403`: The specified access token does not have permissions to perform this operation.
- `404`: A receivable with the specified ID was not found.
- `409`: Cannot delete non-draft receivables.
- `422`: Validation Error
- `429`: API rate limit has been exceeded. Check the response headers for the rate limit information.
