# Get a project by ID

`GET /projects/{project_id}`

Get a project with the given ID.

## Path parameters

- `project_id` string, required

Successful Response

- ProjectResource
  - `id` string, uuid, required: A unique ID assigned to this project.
  - `created_at` string, date-time, required: UTC date and time when this project was created.
  - `updated_at` string, date-time, required: UTC date and time when this project was last updated.
  - `code` string: A user-defined identifier of this project.
  - `color` string: Project color as a [CSS-compatible](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/color) value. Client applications can use this to color-code the projects or project-related data.
  - `created_by_entity_user_id` string, uuid: ID of the entity user who created this project, or `null` if it was created using a partner access token.
  - `description` string: A user-defined description of the project.
  - `end_date` string, date: Project end date.
  - `entity_id` string, uuid, required: ID of the entity that owns this project.
  - `name` string, required: The project name.
  - `parent_id` string, uuid: Unused. Reserved for future use.
  - `partner_metadata` object: [Metadata](https://docs.monite.com/common/metadata) for partner needs.
  - `start_date` string, date: Project start date.
  - `tags` TagReadSchema[]: A list of user-defined tags (labels) assigned to this project.
    - `id` string, uuid, required: A unique ID of this tag.
    - `created_at` string, date-time, required: Date and time when the tag was created. Timestamps follow the [ISO 8601](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601) standard.
    - `updated_at` string, date-time, required: Date and time when the tag was last updated. Timestamps follow the [ISO 8601](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601) standard.
    - `category` 'document_type' | 'department' | 'project' | 'cost_center' | 'vendor_type' | 'payment_method' | 'approval_status'
    - `created_by_entity_user_id` string, uuid: ID of the user who created the tag.
    - `description` string: The tag description.
    - `name` string, required: The tag name.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `401`: The `Authorization` header is missing or contains an invalid or expired access token. See [Authentication](https://docs.monite.com/api/concepts/authentication) to learn how to authenticate API calls.
- `403`: The specified access token does not have permissions to perform this operation.
- `404`: A project with the specified ID was not found.
- `422`: Validation Error
- `429`: API rate limit has been exceeded. Check the response headers for the rate limit information.
