# Release a resource

`POST /v1/resources/{resourceId}/release`

Request the release of a workspace-owned resource. Asynchronous and idempotent: a renewable resource stays usable until its paid-through date, then is released upstream; a non-renewable one — and resources with immediate-release semantics (e.g. email inboxes and email domains, torn down upstream at once) — is released immediately. Poll GET /v1/resources/{resourceId} for the authoritative state.

## Path parameters

- `resourceId` string, required — Resource identifier (ULID).

## Response `202`

Release requested (asynchronous, idempotent)

- ResourceReleaseAccepted
  - `resourceId` string, required
  - `state` 'EXPIRING', required
  - `message` string, required

## Other responses

- `401` — Unauthorized — missing or invalid credentials
- `403` — Forbidden — caller has no workspace or no access
- `404` — Resource not found
- `409` — Resource is already released, or not releasable right now
- `500` — Internal server error
