# Update Internal Account

`PATCH /internal_accounts/{id}`

## Request

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `name` string: A nickname for the internal account
  - `metadata` string, json: Additional data in the form of key-value pairs. Pairs can be removed by passing an empty string or null as the value.
  - `external_id` string: An optional user-defined 180 character unique identifier
  - `party_address` object: The address associated with the owner of the internal account. This update remains within Modern Treasury only and does not get sent to the bank.
    - `line1` string, required
    - `line2` string
    - `locality` string, required: Locality or City. Use the full city name rather than an abbreviation (e.g. San Francisco).
    - `region` string, required: Region or State. This field is free-form; for US states, we recommend a two-letter code (e.g. CA). Full state names are also accepted.
    - `postal_code` string, required: The postal code of the address.
    - `country` string, required: Country code conforms to [ISO 3166-1 alpha-2]
  - `ledger_account_id` string: The Ledger Account you would like to link to the internal account.
  - `contra_ledger_account_id` string: The Contra Ledger Account you would like to link to the internal account.
  - `parent_account_id` string: The UUID of the parent `InternalAccount` this account should be a child of.
  - `counterparty_id` string: The UUID of the `Counterparty` that this account refers to.
  - `status` 'pending_closure': Requests closure of the internal account. The resulting status may be `closed` for vendors that close synchronously.
