# Edit an invite message template (admin-only, inserts a new version).

`PATCH /invite-message-templates/{id}`

## Request

Edits a template's name/body. Append-only: this INSERTS a new row (version = old.version + 1) rather than mutating the row named by `id`, so an already-sent invite referencing the old row's id keeps rendering the wording it was sent with. At least one of name/body must be provided. Admin-only (mnemom_staff). 404 if `id` doesn't exist. MNE-7094.

    - `body` string, required: The reusable invite copy. Must never carry a {{grant_amount}}-style placeholder — that guard is enforced elsewhere (item 4 of MNE-7089), not by this CRUD.
    - `created_by` string, required: The mnemom_staff admin who originally created this template lineage.
    - `updated_by` string, required: The mnemom_staff admin who created THIS version (create or the latest edit).
    - `version` integer, required: Bumps by 1 on every edit. Edits insert a new row; this row is never mutated.

    - `updated_at` string, date-time, required

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request
- `401`: Authentication required
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: Resource not found
- `429`: Rate-limit exceeded. The global per-IP limiter (100 requests/minute, applied to every `/v1/*` route) rejected this request. Back off until the window resets — `Retry-After` carries the cooldown in seconds and `X-RateLimit-Reset` the absolute reset time.
- `500`: Server error — request was well-formed but the server failed to fulfill it. Typically a downstream dependency (DB / RPC / external API) returned an unexpected error.
