# Categorise an uploaded document

`PATCH /prior-authorities/{priorAuthorityId}/documents/{documentId}`

Assigns a document type to a previously uploaded supporting document.

## Response `200`

Document category updated.

- PriorAuthorityDocumentTypeUpdateResponse: Confirmation returned after a document's category has been updated.
  - `documentId` string, uuid: Identifier of the document that was updated.
  - `updatedAt` string, date-time: Timestamp the category update was recorded by the Access Data Store.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid document type.
- `404`: Prior authority or document not found.
