# Price history for a metal

`GET /v1/history/{symbol}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.metalcharts.org`
- URL: `https://api.metalcharts.org/v1/history/{symbol}`
- Auth: none declared

Historical price series for a metal. Symbols are the metal codes, not names: XAU (gold), XAG (silver), XPT (platinum), XPD (palladium), HG (copper), plus ALI, NI, ZN, PB, SN, JBP, LC and UXA. `GOLD` is not valid here; it belongs to /v1/markets. Use the range parameter (for example 1M, 6M, 1Y or ALL; MAX is accepted as a synonym for ALL) or a start date to set the window; start overrides range, and end (used only with start) defaults to now. interval picks the candle size. Supported intervals are 15m, 30m, 45m, 1h, 2h, 4h, 8h, 1d, 1w and 1M; intraday intervals read the interval candle tables and 1w/1M are aggregated from daily candles. Prices are in US dollars per the market's own unit unless currency, unit or karat say otherwise; each point is converted at the ECB reference rate in force on its date (FX history starts 1999-01-04, and earlier points are left out of a converted series). The response states the currency and unit it is in.
