# Exchange rates

`GET /v1/currency/`

## Request

Exchange rates for the 32 currencies the API quotes metals in: the US dollar, the ECB reference set and the pegged UAE dirham and Saudi riyal. `rates` holds units of each currency per one unit of `base` (USD by default). With `date`, the rates in force on that day; on weekends and holidays, the last publication before it. `timestamp` is in milliseconds.

## Query parameters

- `base` string: Currency the rates are quoted against. Default USD.
- `date` string: YYYY-MM-DD: the ECB reference rates in force that day (history from 1999-01-04). Counts as history for plan limits.

## Response `200`

Exchange rates keyed by ISO 4217 code.

  - `timestamp` number: When these rates were captured, as Unix time in milliseconds (not seconds).

## Other responses

- `400`: Unsupported base or malformed date.
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `403`: The date is further back than the plan's history allows.
- `503`: No current rates could be read from any source. Retry later; Retry-After gives a suggested wait.
