# Get a message attachment

`GET /v1/email/messages/{message_id}/attachments/{attachment_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://us1.platform.bird.com`
- URL: `https://us1.platform.bird.com/v1/email/messages/{message_id}/attachments/{attachment_id}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in cookie `bird_session`

Downloads the raw bytes of one attachment from a sent message, returned with the attachment's own content type and a Content-Disposition header that includes its filename. The message must have content storage enabled and the attachment is available for up to 30 days after sending. A `404` indicates the message has no stored content or no attachment with this ID. A `425` indicates the attachment is still being stored and the request can be retried shortly. A `410` indicates the attachment was stored but has since expired.

The raw attachment bytes.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request
- `401`: Authentication required
- `403`: Insufficient permissions
- `404`: Resource not found
- `410`: The resource existed but is no longer available.
- `422`: The request has invalid field values, violates a business rule, or carries a query parameter the endpoint does not declare. Field validation errors use `type: validation_error` and include the affected fields in `details`. Business-rule errors identify the failed rule in `type`.
- `425`: The resource is not available yet. Retry shortly.
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
- `500`: Internal server error
- `503`: The service is temporarily unavailable. If `Retry-After` is present, wait for that delay before retrying; otherwise, retry with exponential backoff. Reuse the same idempotency key and request when retrying a mutation.
