# Create Payment Token

`POST /cards/payment-token`

Creates a Shared Payment Token for merchants that support the Agentic Commerce Protocol. Returns a token string, not full card details. Use a payment token instead of a card when the merchant accepts one. This endpoint is not yet available.

  - `merchant_name` string, required: Name of the merchant.
  - `purpose` string, nullable: A memo for your own records. It is never sent to the merchant and does not restrict what the token can buy.
  - `expires_in_minutes` integer: Token expires after this many minutes (default 60).

    - `card_id` string, uuid, required: Identifier for the issued card.
    - `purpose` string, nullable: Echoes the purpose from your request, if you sent one.
    - `debit_account` string, required: The account this card draws from, whether you named one or the default was used.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request could not be processed.
- `401`: Authentication failed.
- `403`: The API key is not authorized for this operation, or the user of a global API key is an admin or controller without approved KYC. The KYC case returns the message `KYC is required for controllers and admins.` until that user completes KYC in the Meow dashboard.
- `429`: Too many requests.
